O CANADA

The waiting for more action of the FIA World Rallycross Championship comes to an end this weekend. EKS enters round 7 in Trois-Rivières leading both World RX championships. In the drivers’ standings Mattias Ekström is five points ahead of Petter Solberg. EKS tops the teams’ standings with a 32 points gap on Team Peugeot Hansen. “It’s the first overseas event of the year and I’m really looking forward to coming back to Canada,” says Ekström. "After the short summer break our batteries are recharged and EKS is aiming for the next top spot on the podium. “Three victories so far is not too bad, but after leaving our home round in Sweden without any trophy or champagne, we are even more motivated to make it four in Canada",” says Ekström, who turned 38 years old recently. Not only the team boss is looking for additional silverware. Toomas “(Topi)” Heikkinen made it to the Canada RX final back-to-back in the last two years and finished in second place in 2015. “"My aim is to make it three in a row", said Heikkinen, "and to grab another trophy at the end. It’s possible for sure, because the track suits both me and our Audi S1 EKS RX quattro. The long straight is spectacular and the two jumps are really nice after the adjustments have been made in 2015.”" Keep in mind … Trois-Rivières is not only located 5,600 kilometres from our workshop in Fagersta, there is also a time difference of six hours between local time and Central European Standard Time (CEST). Please be aware that the Canada RX final will startSunday, around 21.30 CEST.
