EKS has entered Spain. This weekend, round nine of the FIA World Rallycross Championship takes place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. 2,780 kilometres from home, the team is looking for the seventh podium finish of the season. The track is located in the stadium of the circuit. Two turns of the super fast Formula One track are included, but will be driven in the opposite direction. EKS leads the teams standings with a 19-point gap on Team Peugeot Hansen. "I have bittersweet memories from last year", says Mattias Ekström. "We were super fast the entire weekend, but after a small mistake in my semi, I missed the final run. This year, the chances are really good to gain a better result. I feel very comfortable with the most recent update in terms of development. For Barcelona, a smaller aspect will be added. With respect to the atmosphere, its one of the top three events besides Lohéac and Höljes." Toomas Topi Heikkinen is well prepared and highly motivated. "After the accident in France, my Audi S1 EKS RX quattro is back in shape and now its up to me to reap the fruit of our labour. I really like the track. It is one of the few rallycross circuits with very fast opening corners on tarmac and a lot of flat out sections, which suit our car and me." Keep in mind Barcelona RX will be a mega event and for sure there will be another mega EKS Fridays. You are welcome to visit us at our place in the paddock on Friday, 16 September at 18.00 and watch the World RX drivers battling each other in the latestLego challenge.
