The PEUGEOT 208 WRXs to Tackle Germany’s Estering

In the wake of Sébastien Loeb’s win in Riga, Team Peugeot Hansen is determined to build on its current successful run as the 2016 FIA World Rallycross Championship moves on to Estering-Buxtehude for Round 11 (October 15-16). Sébastien Loeb and his team-mate Timmy Hansen will be out to repeat the team’s win at the German venue in 2015 and put Team Peugeot Hansen on top of the provisional Teams’ standings.

After closing the gap to the provisional Teams’ championship leader to just eight points, Team Peugeot Hansen is hoping to keep the momentum going after its recent results in Barcelona and Riga where the PEUGEOT 208 WRXs proved particularly incisive. Just a fortnight after the team’s successful visit to Latvia, Sébastien Loeb and Timmy Hansen will be hunting for the biggest possible points haul with a view to promoting Team Peugeot Hansen to the top of the Team’s championship table.

Team Peugeot Hansen tested at the German circuit earlier in the season, and that provided Sébastien Loeb with an opportunity to familiarise himself with the technically-challenging venue.

Sebastian Loeb weighed in on the track at Estering. “For once, I have prior knowledge of the track because I was able to test there earlier in the year. There aren’t many corners but they aren’t easy. The first turn – a tight hairpin – is especially delicate. There’s a bit of asphalt on the inside and it’s quite hard to position the car to optimise exit traction for the long straight that comes afterwards. It’s a corner which has the potential to generate some big gaps. After my result in Riga, I know I can win and having a car that allows you to fight for the victory only adds to your motivation. There is no reason why we can’t challenge for first place again at the Estering, and a top-three finish in the Drivers’ championship is still a possibility.”

The Peugeot Hansen Academy has again entered PEUGEOT 208 WRXs for last year’s Estering victor Davy Jeanney and Kevin Hansen who will compete in the world championship after recently scooping the 2016 European title (subject to the publication of the official results by the sport’s governing body).
