Breen to Start in 2019 TitansRX Series

Craig Breen is the next addition to the driver line-up for the maiden season of the TitansRX Rallycross Series. The Irish rally ace has agreed to a full season drive.

"On the verge of the Official Test on May 5 at the MJP Arena in Austria, we are delighted that after testing our Pantera RX6 car, Craig Breen was ecstatic to join the TitansRX," series promoter Max J. Pucher said. “Craig immediately improved the lap record set by our Ford Fiesta Supercar. Although he has not been used to door-to-door racing in the past few seasons, he will be fierce contender.”

The son of former Irish national rallying champion Ray Breen began karting in 1999 and moved to rally driving in 2007. Two years later, he made the full-time switch to rallying and won the Irish, the British, and the International Fiesta Sporting Trophies. He took his maiden British Rally Championship victory on the 2010 Ulster Rally and went on to finish runner-up overall.

After his triumph in the 2011 WRC Academy, Breen progressed to the WRC-2 Championship and took the title in his 2012 debut season. He was signed by Peugeot to lead their ERC campaign. Two 3rd and one 2nd overall finishes followed, before the Irishman joined the Citroën Total World Rally Team in 2016 for a part-time campaign. He managed his first WRC podium the same year with 3rdplace in Finland and improved the result in 2018 by finishing runner-up in Sweden.

After ten seasons in rallying, the 29-year-old has now opted to giving Rallycross a try and will drive one of the brand-new Pantera RX6 cars in the 2019 TitansRX Chanpionship. “It will be different to be on the track with a lot of drivers and compete in such short sprint races, but I’m looking forward to that challenge. If I can master battling against rivals on track early on, then there’s no reason why we can’t win some races. Driving the Pantera RX6 car was an eye-opening experience. It’s got much more power than I’ve ever driven before, and I really enjoyed testing it”, Breen was all smiles.

The TitansRX Championship will take off on June 29/30 in Dreux, France.
