MOLINARO FIRST TITANSRX FEMALE DRIVER

(Italian rally talent Tamara Molinaro joins the new TitansRX Rallycross Series for 2019)

The 2017 European Ladies Rally Champion Tamara Molinaro will become the first woman to compete in the brand-new TitansRX Rallycross Series. “I am extremely excited and proud to be part of this new Championship! New format, new cars and some of the best drivers in the world, it just sounds great!”, Molinaro said.

TitansRX CEO Max J. Pucher said: “We have long been looking for a fitting lady to take on our group of fantastic drivers. When I saw, how Tamara was throwing around the Pantera RX6 Supercar, which she had never driven before, I knew she was the perfect choice. So, I am very happy she has agreed to become part of our lineup and I am convinced, she will quickly adapt to the car and the kind of racing in order to be part of this crew, who will bring the most exciting Rallycross to the spectators and on Eurosport."

The Italian first drove a rally car at the age of eleven, thanks to her father Giorgio being involved in rallying. At the start of her career, she was mainly known as a co-driver of former Mitsubishi works driver Gigi Galli. In no time, Molinaro was picked up by Red Bull driver program.

In 2013, she gave her driver debut in rallying in her native Italy. Three years ago, she drove an Opel Adam as an all-female course car in the Schneebergland Rallye in Austria with Ilka Minor as her co-driver. Her first competitive international outing followed at the 2016 Skoda Rallye Liezen (Austria), where she finished 13Th overall, the Rallye Waldviertel (Austria), the Mikulas Rally (Hungary) and the Rallye Ronde Prealpi (Italy).

Tamara took a big step forward in 2017 entering the European Rally Championship for the Opel Junior Team together with Austrian co-driver Ursula Mayrhofer. She ended the year as the ERC Ladies champion and 10th in the ERC3 standings, becoming the second-youngest champion ever. In 2018, Molinaro moved up to the World Championship, where she piloted a Ford Fiesta R5 in the WRC2 class at the Rally Sweden.

Now the 22-year-old has opted for a start in the TitansRX Series. “Already on the first few laps the PanteraRX6 car has really impressed me and I am so looking forward to getting more familiar with it. I am of course not used to Rallycross, but for me it’s a big new challenge, and I can’t wait to learn. I am probably the least experienced driver in the series, but I will give my everything to fight these crazy boys, I am not afraid,” she added.

The TitansRX Championship will take off on June 29/30 in Dreux, France.
