Marklund Ready to Go ‘All-In’ After Clinching Euro RX1 Crown

Anton Marklund has sealed his fourth Euro RX title in fine style at Germany’s Estering today – and has now promised to go ‘all-in’ for glory over the remainder of the weekend.

Anton Marklund has sealed his fourth FIA European Rallycross Championship title in fine style at Germany’s Estering today (20 August) – and has now promised to go ‘all-in’ for glory over the remainder of the weekend.

As for so much of the season, Marklund has been the pace-setter in Buxtehude behind the wheel of his SET Promotion-run Ford Fiesta, despite saying that he would be adopting a cautious approach during the heats.

The Swede topped the timesheets in both heat one and heat four to soar to the summit of the standings – with the three championship points he scooped for doing so proving sufficient to put the coveted crown beyond reach of any of his rivals.

Having played it comparatively safe up to this point in Germany, now, Marklund is ready to throw caution to the wind as he bids to celebrate his success with a second victory of the 2023 campaign.

“It feels great!” enthused the 30-year-old. “We were already in a very good position before the weekend, but you still need to actually get it done. There are always a lot of ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’, and now they are gone. I’m extremely proud of what we have achieved.

“It’s been a fantastic championship, with a lot of tight racing and to win back-to-back titles feels really nice. I have found the right people to work with here at SET Promotion. We have never been satisfied with second place in any race, and that is what you need to really make the difference in the end. Now, we can go all-in!”
