Summit to support the Jessi Combs Foundation
DirtFish Rally School will host the Women in Motorsport Summit on March 10, bringing together some of the sport’s biggest names in an effort to encourage and empower more women in rallying and off-road racing.
The day will include the opportunity to meet some of the sport’s household names, while being inspired by video and virtual messages from incredible women from around the world.
DirtFish Women’s Month co-ordinator Josie Rimmer will lead the Summit.
Josie said: “It makes me so unbelievably proud to see Women’s Month coming together. This is something we’ve been thinking about for a long time and now it’s really happening – and March 10 is going to be the absolute center piece.
“Not only will we have four women-only driving days at the School, but we will host some of the world’s most talented women in motorsport on March 10 and to see the excitement building about that summit event is incredible.
“And what’s even more amazing is the way word is spreading. While we’re still making calls, we’re taking calls and messages from these amazing women involved in the sport at every level.
"More and more women are seeing our idea and are stepping in to make it a reality. Legends like Emma Gilmour, the first female driver for McLaren and current competitor in Extreme E will be at the Summit with us!”
“And there’s our guest editor, the world’s most successful woman in motorsport ever, Michèle Mouton; Pernilla Solberg has hopped on board and reigning American Rally Association champion co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino will be helping in countless ways. It’s really happening”.
As well as some of the most focused debate on women and their roles in motorsport, there will be in-depth question and answer sessions and the opportunity to talk one-on-one with panel members at the Seattle School.
And it doesn’t end there. DirtFish will host an incredible raffle, food trucks, and of course - no DirtFish event is complete without a thrill. For those wanting to take the day a step further, there will be the opportunity to slide into the co-driver’s seat of a DirtFish Subaru WRX and experience the sport at its flat-chat best in a thrill ride.
Brand new Women’s Month DirtFish merchandise will be available, with a percentage from every sale being donated to the Jessi Combs Foundation and a percentage of everything sold on March 10th will also be donated.
About DirtFish
Established in 2010, DirtFish Rally School has quickly become the ideal place to learn to drive a rally car.
Using dirt roads in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range, DirtFish been teaching drivers how to enjoy the sport of rallying since 2010. Using four-wheel and rear-wheel drive Subarus, our students (aged anywhere from 15-85) are taught how to control a car at all angles and speeds. Then they’re given the keys to do it themselves.
DirtFish’s reputation for excellence has grown over the last decade. It’s for that reason that 2009 Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button came to us to learn how to drive on the loose. And it’s why DirtFish is constantly looking for ways to cater for the ever increasing demand to do what we do – get sideways.
